Web Design (or Re-Design) - Sample Fees

In the case of a web site redesign, a client will come to us with an existing web site that needs to be revamped for one reason or another. The content will mostly stay as is, although it may need to be reorganized a bit.

Let's assume that the client also wants a content management system so that they can maintain the web site on their own.

How much will something like this cost? Here's a rough break down:

Research & Information Architecture	competitive analysis, web site structure, wireframes	15 hrs
Visual Design	one design direction for a small set of templates	20 hrs
Page Coding	turning designs into HTML and CSS	15 hrs
Content Management System	translating page templates into a browser-based editor and file management system	30 hrs
Content Migration and editing	moving content from your current web site, writing new content, etc	12 hrs
CMS training	writing documentation and conducting training session for your employees	10 hrs
QA & testing	Browser testing, general web site testing, etc.	5 hrs

That's a total of 122 hours spread over a two-month period. At our standard $75/hour, you're looking at roughly $9,150 for a professional redesign and installation of a content management system.

If you leave out the content management system you're looking at about half that price. But, you'll need to have someone with the skills and software in-house to make content changes.

If you add custom function, like an interactive training calendar, with online registration, then we'll obviously have to add time and costs.
